[Reminder] Gala Méritas : Call for Nominations

The triennial Gala Méritas is organized to recognize the outstanding work and commitment of activists within PSAC-Québec.

In preparation for the next Gala, we invite you to submit nominations for each award.

Here are the details of how to submit a nomination:

The nomination must be sent to and received by the Committee four months before the gala and include: 

  • the candidate’s name 
  • the category for which the candidate is nominated 
  • a short text explaining why the candidate qualifies for the award 
  • the name of the nominator and the seconder.

All nominations must be emailed to: galameritas@psac-afpc.com

The application period has been extended to December 16, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

Here are the details of the categories and their respective criteria:

Status of women 

  • Involvement in feminist initiatives within or outside PSAC-Quebec. 
  • If awarded to a person, can only be awarded to members who identify as women; can also be awarded to a local or to a regional committee. 

Union succession 

  • Involvement in initiatives to promote young workers’ interests within or outside PSAC-Quebec. 
  • If awarded to a person, can only be awarded to members who are 35 or younger; can also be awarded to a local or to a regional committee. 

Environment and social justice 

  • Awarded to a person or a group of persons for their involvement in environmental and/or social justice initiatives within or outside PSAC-Quebec. 

Equity group 

  • Involvement in initiatives to promote the interests of equity groups within or outside PSAC-Quebec. 
  • If awarded to a person, can only be awarded to members who self-identify as belonging to an equity group; can also be awarded to a local or to a regional committee. 

Mobilization 

  • Awarded to a person or a group of persons who launched and/or participated heavily in one or several mobilization initiatives, or to a person or group of persons who spearheaded a large or significant mobilization initiative, or to a person or group of persons who showed exceptional activism. 

Honorary 

  • Awarded to a person for significant and meaningful participation in the union environment or for achievements outside the union and involvement with the union for at least 15 years. 

Innovation 

  • Awarded to a person or group of persons who used innovative methods to achieve the labour movement’s goals.
