The SETUE-PSAC and the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) signed collective agreements for Unit 1 student employees and Unit 3 Fondation UQAM members.
Student employees
The new collective agreement was signed virtually on March 9 and expires on December 31, 2024.
Members will recall that it was literally three minutes to midnight when the bargaining team reached an agreement with the employer after a negotiation marathon. The new contract features significant monetary and non-monetary gains, including wage adjustments for undergraduate students beyond negotiated wage increases and the obligation for the employer to pay student employees according to their level of study regardless of credits earned, a big win which puts an end to the practice of compensating PhD students from certain departments at the master’s rather than the PhD level.
Fondation UQAM employees
The collective agreement was signed by the SETUE-PSAC bargaining team and the employer on February 21. It expires on August 31, 2024.
This “no concession” agreement significantly improves member working conditions, particularly with regards to wages and paid leave.
