PSAC members in the SV, PA and EB bargaining units will be voting until Nov. 30 on the tentative agreements negotiated with Treasury Board.

See this table of Treasury Board job classifications and their bargaining units to see which agreement applies to you.

These agreements will only take effect if they are ratified.

Every PSAC member in good standing covered by these agreements has a right to vote.

Ratification meetings (including information sessions) are taking place across the country until November 30th.
Dates, times and locations of ratification votes by region:

* North
* British Columbia
* Prairies
* Ontario
* National Capital Region
* Québec
* Atlantic

Don’t know where to vote?

* Contact your local union representative. If you don’t know your local, contact the nearest PSAC regional office.
* If you work more than 60km from the closest ratification meeting location, you are entitled to a mail ballot.
* If you live and work outside of Canada, contact your local.

What is in the agreements?

PSAC will distribute detailed summaries of the changes proposed for the contract, called ratification kits at ratification meetings. You can also download the documents in PDF form:

* EB Group [1.3MB, 24 pages] (Last update: 25-10-2010)
* PA Group [1.1MB, 24 pages] (Last update: 21-10-2010)
* SV Group [1.2MB, 24 pages] (Last update: 25-10-2010)

How do ratification meetings work?

* You will be asked to identify yourself. Bring your PSAC ID card – if you have it – to speed up the process.
* If you are not a member in good standing, you may fill out a membership form to become eligible to vote.
* An elected officer or bargaining team member will make a presentation about the agreements.
* Members will have their questions answered.
* The vote will take place by secret ballot

Can I ask someone else to cast my vote for me?

You have to cast your own ballot – there is no proxy voting and only members in good standing can vote. (See the PSAC Constitution, Section 4, Subsection 2 for the definition of a member in good standing.
How will the votes be counted?

* PSAC Regional Offices count the ballots on each agreement from all meetings in their region
* The PSAC National Office compiles the results.
* Vote results for each agreement will be announced December 1, 2010.

What is required to ratify the tentative agreements?

For an agreement to be ratified, 50 per cent plus 1 of the bargaining unit members who vote must vote in favour.
What happens if a tentative agreement is rejected?

The regular bargaining process for that group will resume according to Regulation 15A of the PSAC constitution

* PSAC will hold bargaining conferences,
* a bargaining team will be elected,
* PSAC will give notice to bargain before the current agreement expires
* negotiations will start from the beginning.
