Education Schedule – March to June 2021

This 2020 fall, union training is all virtual

Since the PSAC has postponed all major activities and cancelled all face-to-face meetings until at least January 2021, union education in the region will be completely online this fall.

We are developing new tools that will allow us to provide training from your computer or tablet. But not all these tools are ready yet. That’s why we can’t post a full fall schedule as we normally do.

Please note that in order to participate in our webinars or take our online courses, you will need to have access to a computer or tablet connected to the internet. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do this from a landline or smartphone as we will be sharing documents and interactive websites and this is only possible on a computer (the ideal tool) or tablet.

As for online courses that you can take at your own pace, they will be posted on these pages as soon as they become available.

We will continue to expand our range of courses and webinars. Our goal is to reinvent union education and to offer new ways of doing things to better serve you.

The PSAC offers a wide range of courses.

Click on the “Education” tab to check out our courses: basic training, advanced training and health and safety.

Thank you for your interest! Contact Isabelle Renaud (renaudi@psac-afpc.com) with any question you might have.

Overview of our program

Our Education Program is based on modern adult education techniques: workshops, role play, case studies, discussion periods, interactive panels, group projects, audio-visual aids, etc. Using these techniques, participants share their experiences, resolve problems and develop strategies for the future.

The Alliance Facilitators’ Network (AFN) is also a vital part of our Education Program.

Education policy

There’s more to organizing than signing membership cards, holding a vote and applying for certification. As a first step, workers choose their union, but the end game is to become an active union member. Through a process of membership development and empowerment, a dynamic, united and democratic union can take root and grow strong. This process is more commonly known as union education.

List of Alliance Facilitators in Quebec

There are many PSAC-Quebec facilitators all over the province. Click on the above link to find the name of facilitators in your region.

Expense policy

Members’ expenses for union education are reimbursed by PSAC-Quebec.

Minutes

Minutes of Union Education Committee meetings are available from Isabelle Renaud, regional education interim officer. He may also be reached by telephone at the Montreal regional office.
