Quebec Council

The Quebec Council is responsible for defending the interests of PSAC-Quebec between triennial conventions. It is made up of 15 members who meet three to four times a year. The Quebec Council also includes four standing committees: political actionunion educationfinance and health and safety. Regional Executive Vice-President

Yvon Barrière

Yvon Barrière was reelected Regional Executive Vice-President for Quebec at PSAC-Quebec’s 11th Regional Convention in June 2023. He was first elected REVP Quebec in 2018. He previously held the position of Quebec Regional Vice-President for the Union of Safety and Justice Employees (USJE).

Yvon is a family man devoted to his three children and two adorable grandchildren, and has long been involved with various sports and community organizations. In his capacity as a correctional program officer from 2002 to 2014, Yvon had a reputation for empathy and working constructively with the prison community.

Yvon co-chairs the work on two national portfolios: official languages, including the National Committee for the Protection of French, and directly chartered locals. He is also in charge of organizing and a member of the EB bargaining team. At the regional level, he is Vice-President on the FTQ Board and sits on the Board of Directors of the FTQ Solidarity Fund.

Alternate Regional Executive Vice-Presidents

Kevin Piton

Kevin Piton was elected Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for Quebec at PSAC-Quebec’s 11th Regional Convention in June 2023. Several months prior, he joined the Quebec Council as President of the Montérégie Area Council. A member of the SV table and the Union of National Defence Employees, he was a technician and has now been a site inspector for 11 years.

With two teenage sons and 15 years of marriage under his belt, he devotes his life to his family and his activism. His fighting spirit is evidenced by his love of mixed martial arts, and he also enjoys landscaping.

Born in Quebec City, Kevin is proud of his Indigenous heritage. He always strives to use his platforms to promote Indigenous rights, as well as diversity and inclusion.
