FB group: How do strikes work?

In preparation for the potential strike at the Canada Border Services Agency, we have compiled a list of resources that you may find useful.

For starters, you can watch How do strikes work?, a training video prepared by PSAC-Quebec. In under 15 minutes, regional representatives Manon Ouellet and Mélanie Desrosiers go over the ins and outs of bargaining, explain the importance of mobilization, and discuss different ways to obtain a fair work contract.

In addition, very relevant and periodically updated Frequently asked questions have been created to hopefully answer most of your concerns.

Show your solidarity, show your colors. There’s nothing like demonstrating to your colleagues and employer that you deserve a fair and equitable employment contract using support materials such as video background, signature block, posters or social media frame. You also have the right to wear union swag on the job. As such, two decisions by the federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board have confirmed that PSAC-CIU members have the right to wear items promoting the union at work. Read on to learn more about your rights.

For more general information, you can also consult the PSAC Strike Manual – Everything you need to know to plan and execute effective strikes. It explains why people strike, how strikes work and what your role during a strike might be.

Finally, keep up to date with the latest news about our negotiations on the FB group bargaining page, on your Component’s website or by subscribing to our newsletter, so you don’t miss a thing about the negotiation of your next employment contract.
