Your bargaining team from the Association pour une Solidarité Syndicale de l’École Polytechnique (ASSEP-PSAC) reached a tentative agreement for teaching assistants and demonstrators.
“We are very proud of this tentative agreement. Wage increases in the current context will significantly increase the quality of life of our members,” said ASSEP-PSAC Coordinator Sébastien Paquette. The bargaining team unanimously recommends ratification of the new agreement.
Here is an overview of the agreement:
- Formalization of the current practice of electronically signing union cards.
- Adjustments to certain definitions to better reflect workplace environment.
- Adjustments to discrimination and harassment article.
- Referral to arbitration after 75 days (instead of 60).
- 4 membership lists per year:
- May 1 – September 30: October 20
- November 1 – December 31: January 20
- January 1 – February 28: March 20
- March 1 – April 30: May 20
- Maternity leave top-up eligibility after 250 hours worked (instead of 300).
- Wage increases (on June 1 of each year):
- 2020: 2% with retroactive pay (90 days after signature)
- 2021: 2% with retroactive pay (90 days after signature)
- 2022: 2% + compensation for lack of benefits and other paid leave increases from 3% to 3.75%
- 2023: 2%
- 2024: 2%
- 2025: 2.25%
“This tentative agreement is great news and addresses several key concerns, including retroactive pay, by providing members with six wage increases over a five-and-a-half year collective agreement,” said Alain Lachapelle, PSAC-Quebec regional representative.
Once accepted, the collective agreement would expire on August 31, 2025. The ratification vote will take place on March 30 at 6 p.m. Further details to follow.
