The Association pour une solidarité syndicale de l’École Polytechnique (ASSEP) bargaining team is pleased to announce the ratification of the latest tentative agreement for its École Polytechnique sessional lecturers.
“Congratulations to the bargaining team. You can be proud of the work you’ve done to improve conditions for our members for years to come,” said Sébastien Paquette, Executive Vice-President for PSAC-Quebec, who is himself from the local.
“This new collective agreement offers a real response to members’ concerns while bringing significant economic and social progress.”
Here are the main monetary and non-monetary improvements:
- Increase in union leave hours (5 course assignments per year)
- Improvement and expansion of mandatory key information about job contracts
- Improved reimbursement of professional dues for members of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- Improved transmission of the list of lecturers
- Improved posting of course assignments
- Improved information in postings, including estimated number of students
- Improved grievance and arbitration procedure (abolition of list of arbitrators)
- Improved allocation of course assignments
- Improved dissemination of union information to lecturers
- Addition of a clause on disciplinary meetings
- Improved provision on probation and evaluation
- Addition of an appendix on technological change
- Addition of a 15-day bereavement leave without pay
- Improved provision for employer-paid training, including CPR
- Pay in lieu of statutory holidays increased from 1.6% to 2.6%
- Economic increases:
- 2025: 2.6% + (salary adjustment 0.9%) Total 3.5%
- 2026: 2% + (salary adjustment 1.25%) Total 3.25%
- 2027: 2% + (salary adjustment 1%) Total 3%
- 2028: 2% + (salary adjustment 1%) Total 3%
- 2029: 2% + (salary adjustment 1%) Total 3%
- Five-year collective agreement
Signing will take place when classes return in September.
