Last night, after two and a half years of negotiation, the Fraternité des constables du contrôle routier du Québec (FCCRQ-PSAC) bargaining team finally reached a tentative agreement with the Quebec Treasury Board.
“It was a really tough negotiation. Commercial vehicle enforcement officers are now more engaged than ever, and this engagement allowed us to make significant gains,” said PSAC-Quebec Regional Representative Natalie Rainville.
More details will be shared with members at a meeting next week, but we can already say that the agreement provides for better work schedules and substantial wage increases. The bargaining team will unanimously recommend ratification of the agreement.
Though this tentative agreement is an undeniable win, commercial vehicle enforcement officers must continue to mobilize as there are other battles ahead. “Commercial vehicle enforcement officers merit the respect owed to them as law enforcement officers. They have all the search and inspection powers needed to help make our streets safer, and that’s what they want to do. All they’re lacking is the mandate and tools to do their part. And our union will continue to prioritize these demands,” reiterated PSAC-Quebec Regional Executive Vice-President Yvon Barrière.
