Yvon Barrière announces his resignation

Sisters, brothers, friends,

It is with deep emotion that I announce my resignation from all my roles within the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

As you know, I have always been deeply committed to our mission and profoundly attached to PSAC-Quebec, with which I have had the privilege of working closely every day.

Leaving the members of Quebec, whom I have had the honor and privilege to represent, is undoubtedly the most difficult part for me. Their trust, determination, and solidarity have always been a source of inspiration. They are the ones I think of first. They deserve a strong organization, one that is mobilized and consistent with the values we hold dear. I especially want to thank the Quebec Council, whose effectiveness is remarkable. Together, we accomplished exceptional collaborative work.

As for the staff members of PSAC-Quebec, working with you has been an enriching experience in every way. I had the privilege of being part of an exceptional team, with whom I both learned a great deal and built meaningful human connections. Every project, every exchange, every challenge we faced together fostered in me a deep admiration for each and every one of you.

I will greatly miss your support, your energy, and your passion. While I am leaving due to differences in vision, that in no way diminishes the affection and respect I have for each of you. You have been much more than members and colleagues. You have been a true source of inspiration and motivation every day.

I want to thank each and every one of you for the moments we shared, for your collaboration and your kindness. You all contributed to making my time here a memorable and fulfilling journey.

I sincerely wish you all the best for the future. I will always be available to connect, discuss, or collaborate again in new ways.

In the coming weeks, I will ensure a smooth transition with my successor, Sébastien Paquette. An election will need to be held within a reasonable timeframe to elect a new Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President.

In closing, I leave with a heavy heart, but with the certainty that I have always acted with integrity, courage, and conviction.

Once again, thank you for everything.
