At its meeting this week, the Quebec Council adopted a resolution to boycott Amazon. PSAC-Quebec will no longer make purchases on Amazon or use its services. By taking this stance, it endorses the “Here, we boycott Amazon” campaign and urges its members to follow suit.
“This affects the labour movement as a whole. Amazon’s anti-union tactics are unacceptable and violate the fundamental rights of precarious workers. Now more than ever, it’s time to shop locally and support ethical businesses right here at home,” said Yvon Barrière, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President, Quebec.
Amazon’s January 23rd decision to shutter its seven distribution centres and exit Quebec followed an organizing process at its Laval facility. This decision and its ripple effects will result in over 4,500 job losses.
You can join the boycott by unsubscribing from Amazon Prime and closing your Amazon account. To go even further, learn about Boycott Amazon’s actions and upcoming rallies.
