Women’s Leadership Summit

The PSAC‑Quebec Women’s Leadership Summit features inspiring guests and enriching discussions on the issues women encounter in pursuit of their goals. It offers a unique opportunity to meet the women leading activism and community organizing in the labour movement.

The Summit will be held on November 11, 2024 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Montmartre, 1669 chemin Saint-Louis, in Quebec City. Please note that the Summit will be held in French only.

Panellists

Nycole Turmel

A long-time union activist, Nycole held different union positions at the local, regional, and national levels with the Canada Employment and Immigration Union and the Public Service Alliance of Canada from 1979 to 2006. In 2000, she became the first woman to serve as National President of PSAC.She was re-elected in 2003 and retired in 2006.

From 2007 to 2011, she volunteered as Vice-President of the first Ombudsman Office for the City of Gatineau.

On May 2, 2011, she was elected NDP MP of Hull-Aylmer, which had been a Liberal stronghold for a century. Shortly thereafter, she became interim leader of the NDP and leader of the Official Opposition in Canada.

Julie Vignola

Born in Sept-Îles, Julie is a teacher and politician. With the support of her family, partner, and four children, she has served as Bloc Québécois MP for Beauport–Limoilou since 2019.

Julie was introduced to politics by her father Jacques, who was a union activist, city counselor, and health centre board chair. She has been volunteering and giving back to her community since age 11.

Isabelle Renaud

Isabelle Renaud has had a most inspiring career. With a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal, she got involved with the labour movement in 2003. 

She is a founding member of the Syndicat des étudiant-e-s employé-e-s de l’UQAM (SÉTUE) and participated in PSAC’s push to organize the university sector. She served as Vice-President, Laval for the FTQ Montreal-Metro Area Council from 2004 to 2014 and sat on the board for the Table de concertation de Laval en condition féminine for the FTQ.

Isabelle was a PSAC union advisor from 2005 to 2023, during which time she also served as Vice-President of the Caisse Desjardins des travailleuses et des travailleurs unis for 13 years, as well as President of the Group Caisses Division of Desjardins. In spring 2023, Isabelle joined the FTQ Solidarity Fund team as its Savings Market Senior Vice-President. She has also served on the board for Centre St-Pierre since 2021.

Stéphanie Lampron

Stéphanie has more than 20 years of management experience, both in the private and community sectors. 

After completing a certificate in organizational communication and a bachelor’s in academic and career guidance, she was hired as Director of Social and Community Programs for the Quebec City YWCA in 2011 and became Executive Director in 2022. She served on various boards, including for Clinique SPOT, and was President of RAIIQ for five years.
